Bruce was born and spent his childhood in the Ozark Mountains of Southwestern Missouri. After his family moved to Central Oregon in 1967, Bruce attended Bend Senior High School, where he was active in competitive speech and debate as well as sports, fishing and hiking. He received his high school diploma in 1971. Bruce received his undergraduate degree, majoring in history, from the University of Oregon. Bruce was then admitted to the University of Oregon Law School, graduating in 1979. He received an award from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers for his Moot Court presentation.
Bruce's private law practice began in Central Oregon, then moved to the Portland area, finally back to Eugene, Oregon where he has practiced with William Bromley since 1994. With a general practice emphasizing state court matters, Bruce has represented clients in court appearances in most of Oregon's many county courthouses.
Bruce's practice emphasizes family law and divorce, real estate, small business, and general litigation. He enjoys the challenge of trial practice and building valuable relationships of trust he forges with his clients.
Outside of his legal practice, Bruce is a golfer and enjoys fishing and cooking. Bruce is an avid Oregon Duck football fan and enjoys tailgating and cheering for the Ducks!

K.C. grew up in Reedsport, Oregon - After graduation, K.C. headed to Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Political Science. After Linfield, K.C. attended the University of Oregon School of Law and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 2000.
Immediately after law school, K.C. clerked for the Honorable Lyle C. Velure of the Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene, Oregon. In April 2001, K.C. joined Thorp Purdy and in 2007, he became a shareholder.
In March 2022, K.C. joined Bromley Newton LLP, which is now known as Bromley Newton Huffman LLP.
K.C.’s practice focuses on Real Property, Business & Corporate, Estate Planning, and Probate & Trust Administration.
Outside of the law firm, K.C. is involved in the community in many different capacities.

In 2011, K.C. was honored by “blue chip” — the Register-Guard’s business magazine — as a “20 under 40 Rising Business Star.” This honor is limited to twenty business professionals under forty and is based on performance and community service.
In 2012 and again in 2014, K.C. was recognized for his work in the areas of business and municipal government as a “Super Lawyers Rising Star,” a peer-based award limited to only 2.5% of the attorneys in the state.
K.C. is married to Tristyne, a 1999 UO Law School graduate, and they have four highly active children.

Primary Areas of Practice
A native Oregonian, Bill graduated cum laude from Michigan State University in pre-law studies before attending the University of Oregon Law School, graduating in 1974. He has been in private practice in Eugene since that year.
Bill's law practice emphasized small business matters, real estate matters, including complex transactions, and estate planning and probate matters. His clientele included numerous local businesses and professionals. He has been a member of the Oregon State Bar Business Law Section, the Real Estate and Land Use Section, and the Estate Planning and Administration Section since their inception. He is a past member and chairperson of the Oregon State Bar Foreign and International Law Committee and has actively served on numerous Lane County Bar committees and sections over the years. He was a long-time member and past chair of the Lane County Joint Realtor Attorney Committee. In addition, he has chaired the Lane County Bar Community Education and Law Day Committee several times, along with serving as the Law Day Activity Coordinator for Lane County schools for nearly two decades.
Bill dedicated a significant amount of his personal time to public service in local community matters, including many years of being a KidSports coach and youth soccer coach, plus serving as a volunteer and on the board of local and nationally affiliated non-profit organizations, and as trustee for a privately endowed college scholarship.
Bill's interests outside the practice of law include travel, University of Oregon Ducks sporting events, outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, boating, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing, and just generally enjoying all our beautiful state has to offer, from the beach to the mountains. He is married with two sons.
